Fundraising campaign for our New Website

Hypersomnolence Australia has been advocating, raising awareness, providing education and support for Idiopathic Hypersomnia for more than 4 years now. We are proud of how far we have come with no funding or other major support but there is a problem. We provide information and support to patients all over the world but we are struggling to keep up with the demand with the limited resources we have. Our current website was built by ourselves from a simple do it yourself blog template and we have desperately outgrown its capabilities. To be able to continue with the work we do we need your help!

We have launched a crowd funding campaign on to help us raise the money required to reach our goals.

Our plan for our NEW WEBSITE

Our plan is to work with website developers to create a purpose built website. Our goal is to provide much needed advice and information based on the concerns that patients have raised with us directly and via our patient survey. This will include information pertaining to employment, school and education, support services, grief and psychological resilience, health and wellbeing, family and relationships, advice on how to make lifestyle adjustments and other lifestyle tips to help make the most of managing life with Idiopathic Hypersomnia. It will also include up to date information on research, treatment options and links to relevant medical information. We will be working with a variety of health care professionals to ensure we provide a broad range of quality information.  We also plan on working with professionals to put together an information brochure with the aim to distribute them to relevant doctors and health care professionals and patients.

Life’s too short as it is so for people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia it’s important to make the most of every moment that they are awake but this can be difficult when you are struggling to wake up or are fighting to stay awake. People with Idiopathic Hypersomnia need help and practical support to manage their day to day lives. Help us to continue to do the work required to assist people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia live the best life possible.

To all our donors - With your help we have reached the half way mark!

We would like to thank all our donors to Hypersomnolence Australia’s Help us change the prognosis campaign. Fundraising without a budget isn’t easy. It has taken a lot longer to reach the half way mark than we had hoped or anticipated but we will not give up. We believe that everyone with hypersomnia, particularly with Idiopathic Hypersomnia deserves to have resources and support and to be represented adequately and professionally. The only way that Hypersomnolence Australia can continue to do the work we do and to do more is with a purpose built website so we will continue to work hard to reach our goal.

One of our fundraising projects is the Peoples Choice Lottery. 100% of the proceeds from all tickets we sell go directly to our Help us change the prognosis campaign. Last year we raised $444.00. The Lottery has started again. The tickets are just $2 each and all tickets purchased prior to midnight 31st March go into the draw for the early bird prize which is a new car valued at over $20,000! The early bird prize will be drawn on 5th April.

All tickets purchased during the early bird period (before March 31st) will also go into the draw to win prizes in the main prize pool, worth over $360,000! Tickets are on sale until 31st August the final prize draw is on 4th October 2017.

Please consider buying a ticket and sharing the link with your friends and contacts. And don't forget to share our campaign too!

Once again, thank you for your donation and support. With your help we will
 change the prognosis

Feburary 25th 2016

Thank you so much to all our generous donors! With your help we have raised $1500.00 of our $5150.00 budget for the website.

We have been inspired by the support we have received from people all over the world. We have been reminded that the work we do is vital to not just people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia, but also to people with Narcolepsy, Sleep Apnea and other causes of excessive daytime sleepiness. There are many people that struggle everyday to stay awake and alert. Not all of them have Idiopathic Hypersomnia however many of them find their way to Hypersomnolence Australia desperately looking for advice and support because there really isn’t a lot out there. We provide a valuable resource and are aware that the concept of our new website will provide people with support and information not currently available so we will be continuing with our campaign until we reach our goal.

We appreciate the people that have so generously donated to us because they believe in the work that we do, and we are grateful for the people that have donated to us that may not know what we do however they have felt moved by what they heard.

The money raised so far means we can engage a design team and start working with them to get the basics of our website together. To enable us to actually develop the website with all of the required features including domain and 12 months of hosting we still need to raise a further $3,650.00.

Stage 1

Professionally develop and build our purpose built website as per the requirements mentioned below under "our new wesite" = $3,650.00*

*Price includes 12 months hosting fees

We also plan on working with professionals to put together an information brochure with the aim to distribute them to relevant doctors and health care professionals and patients. This will be stage 3.

Stage 2

500 professionally designed DL A4 folded double sided information brochures. Cost includes printing and postage costs to relevant recipients = $850.00

We had a great day with our
Melbourne Street Appeal. Thank you to all of the wonderful people that donated and showed interest in our campaign. We handed out over 100 flyers with information about Idiopathic Hypersomnia and Hypersomnolence Australia's campaign so it was a great opportunity to raise awareness as well as much needed funds. We raised $150.00! We are very please to say that this brings our campaign total to $1075.00! We still have a fair way to go so watch this space for more information on fundraising events and campaign updates.

*Please help by sharing our campaign with your contacts*

Help Us Raise Funds By Going Without Your Store Bought Coffee

How can you show your support for people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia?

We know you love your morning coffee, but we are going to ask you to go without it! I know, be brave!

Why? For a couple of reasons:

  1. To show your solidarity for people with Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Ok so going without your delicious, delicious coffee and its effects on alertness will suck. But by doing this you will be showing your support for people who struggle to firstly wake up, suffer though sleep drunkenness and then try and stay awake the rest of the day!
  2. By skipping your usual café bought coffee, you can donate that money instead to Hypersomnolence Australia’s cause “Help us change the prognosis!”
